What women mean to say ...

There are a few unspoken rules to marriage. For guys that haven’t figured it out at this stage this post may be a lost cause, but there is one secret every guy should know before heading into a relationship and a marriage is doomed if you haven’t figured out by the time you propose. I am here to share that secret – women have a secret language. Some call it code, I call it logic, but whatever works for you. While generally my husband speaks woman fluently, he recently had a major slip up and I am here to help all other men understand this one single phrase that can bring life or death to a relationship. When a woman says, “Whatever makes you happy, dear,” she is leaving out part of what she means. The true thought is:...Reason #27 Marriage is Incredible

I know I am not the only person on campus that feels this way but it’s been a rough week. As I sat in my Mass Media Ethics class it seemed like a heard multiple people say that they were under the same impression that professors across campus have plotted against students to try to make everything due at the same time – just to see what happens. Lucky for me, I have had a plan. Every Monday Wednesday and Friday I make lists of what all I need to get done to have a successful week. But since last week I have had chemistry tests, self-critiques, two eight-page papers and tons of reading. At work tax season is wrapping up at work which is always…fun. And because of my husband and I’s recent decision to try to buy a bigger house our home is on the market and has to be...Sudafed saved my marriage

I’ve been writing this blog about everything that marriage is for a while now. I’ve been wrong. The only thing that marriage always is would be changing. I have been so fortunate in my marriage to have a husband that has supported my every decision, rubbed my feet at night, made me dinner regularly and on occasion he says some really sweet things. But there are some things about marriage you never see coming and once it happens you think to yourself, “Dear God, is this what the rest of my life will be like?” Sounds pretty bad, right? This week I have known my husband for six years. In June we will have been in a relationship at some level for six years. Now, Sam and I have almost been married for two years and Tuesday night was one of...Spring break!

It is the last day of classes before spring break (pause for celebration). It seems like every class has been the same this week. There has been that normal rush for final, little projects due the last day of class and despite some of the most valiant efforts by professors the combination of a nearing end and nice weather has resulted in restless classes. But one of the best parts about spring break is hearing everyplace people are planning to go. Every class this week has been filled with talk about who is going where – Texas, Florida, Colorado. They all sound amazing. But when I listen to these stories it is a constant reminder of how my life is different. When people ask me what my plans are, I go off on this excited ramble about everything I have to do in good old Ottawa. I...Murphy's Law

It has been a week since I have written but trust me … it’s all been with good reason and it has provided me with so many stories I truly don’t know where to start. College teaches you many things. This week, my college lesson was to live life by Murphy’s Law. After last week I could swear my parents may even consider naming me Murphy if they had a do-over. Things started getting bad on Sunday. I have mentioned before that I have the oh-so-dreadful LA401 paper coming up. I worked so diligently over the weekend. I’m not really one to procrastinate – don’t get me wrong I’m not perfect in this department but I LA401 wasn’t one of those things I really wanted to freak out about. By Sunday evening I was about...
