Murphy's Law

It has been a week since I have written but trust me … it’s all been with good reason and it has provided me with so many stories I truly don’t know where to start.

College teaches you many things. This week, my college lesson was to live life by Murphy’s Law. After last week I could swear my parents may even consider naming me Murphy if they had a do-over.

Things started getting bad on Sunday. I have mentioned before that I have the oh-so-dreadful LA401 paper coming up. I worked so diligently over the weekend. I’m not really one to procrastinate – don’t get me wrong I’m not perfect in this department but I LA401 wasn’t one of those things I really wanted to freak out about.

By Sunday evening I was about 10 to 12 pages in. At this point I don’t really remember why but I had to run by my parents’ house. To give you an idea of how long I was gone … my parents live about two blocks away and I literally was only there for a few minutes before coming home.  It’s when I came home things went south. I came home to pop all over my computer. To sum this up really quickly, all of that LA401 including research, rough draft and bibliography as well as anything else I had tried to get done ahead of time had died. Oh, it gets worse – among those files were wedding pictures and family pictures (meaning Sam and the dogs).

I honestly vomited and went to bed for the weekend I was so upset. So Monday after class I drove to Lawrence and my 20 page LA401 paper became a 20 page $600 paper. Because I don’t want to seem like this whiney little child that makes those around me so depressed I will spare those of you reading this from the rest of my painful week.

If you take nothing else from this posting…heed my warning – Murphy’s Law can get you at any time. Be prepared because if you’re not you will end up spending so much more money that you have to just blow on a computer. And it’s okay to have a savings account – it will come in handy.

At least now you know why I haven't written lately!
