Sudafed saved my marriage

I’ve been writing this blog about everything that marriage is for a while now. I’ve been wrong. The only thing that marriage always is would be changing. I have been so fortunate in my marriage to have a husband that has supported my every decision, rubbed my feet at night, made me dinner regularly and on occasion he says some really sweet things. But there are some things about marriage you never see coming and once it happens you think to yourself, “Dear God, is this what the rest of my life will be like?”

Sounds pretty bad, right? This week I have known my husband for six years. In June we will have been in a relationship at some level for six years. Now, Sam and I have almost been married for two years and Tuesday night was one of those moments I didn’t really know if I was going to make it in this marriage. First the first time in six years, Sam - dear, sweet, darling, ‘let me cook for you’ Sam – decided he was a snorer. Let me adjust my terminology – he’s a honker.

It was about 4 a.m. sleeping soundly and then, all of a sudden, it was like having a siren go off in my ear. I thought we were being attacked by some sort of wild boar that might eat me. To make things worse, Sam is what you might call a deep sleeper. I lay there Tuesday thinking of everything I could do to get him to fix the problem – I poked, elbowed, yelled, punched, slapped and rolled that man only to find myself sleeping on the couch.

Now, for the uplifting part of the story – for almost every problem in a marriage there is usually a fix. I would like to take this moment to thank the creators of Sudafed and those nasal strip things for saving my marriage and my GPA. If it weren’t for those people I would still be sleeping on the couch.
