The Greek Man and Woman of the year were named during the greek awards April 27 at the end of Greek Week .
Senior Ashley Jones, of the Delta Delta Delta sorority, was named greek woman of the year, and senior Ryan Kuhn, of the Kappa Sigma fraternity, was named greek man of the year.
“I was really flattered and surprised,” Jones said. “It was nice to see the hard work and perseverance that I had throughout the year had meant something to the greek community.”
Kuhn was also honored for his contributions to greek life.
“It was a very nice surprise – very rewarding,” Kuhn said. “I was just really excited, and it meant a lot that I was voted for by both my peers and faculty.”
Freshmen were also honored with outstanding new member awards. The awards were given to Chad O’Bryhim of the Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity and Chris O’Donnell of the Phi Mu sorority.
For outstanding new member programs, Phi Mu and the Zeta Chi fraternity were honored.
Assistant Director of Human Resources Connie Deel was honored as adviser of the year for her work with Phi Mu.
The Delta Tau Delta fraternity was rewarded for its charitable contributions with outstanding philanthropy and outstanding community awards. For the sororities, Delta Delta Delta won for outstanding philanthropy and Phi Mu for community service.
Scholarship awards were also given for highest average GPA. Alpha Chi Omega was recognized for the sororities. For the fraternities, Sigma Phi Epsilon was given the award.
The awards for greek week were decided by a point system based on greek week events and participation. The Phi Mu sorority won the Overall Champion award with 443 points, while the Alpha Chi Omega and Zeta Tau Alpha sororities came in second and third.
