Baker University Student Senate barely met quorum this week, and some groups may face consequences for failing to have representatives present at the meeting Tuesday.
“The organizations get taken off the roster, and they don’t get any more funding,” president Ryan Boyer said. “If it’s a class, they don’t get money for their class activity.”
Boyer said he was satisfied senate met quorum but was disappointed in the lack of attendance of representatives.
“I sent out an e-mail earlier this week to all the advisers of the organizations on campus, and only a handful of them really cared about stuff,” Boyer said. “It was that handful that made quorum tonight.”
Public relations officer Jacinta Deruso said freshman elections will open at 6 a.m. Monday and close at noon on Tuesday. Deruso said elections weren’t held this past Monday because Web Services Administrator Toby Ebel didn’t have time to set up the process.
“He was in meetings all week,” Deruso said. “He didn’t return any of my e-mails or calls until Friday, so by the time Friday hit, he didn’t have enough time to get the elections started on Monday.”
Deruso said the delay won’t affect senate as much as it might affect the candidates.
“A whole lot of people were revved up and ready to vote and everything like that, and then they found out they couldn’t,” Deruso said.
Deruso said she hopes the same number of people that planned on voting the first time vote on Monday.
