The Baker University Mass Media and Communication department has new faces filling the editorial positions for next year.
Jenalea Myers was hired as editor of the Baker Orange for 2007-2008. Dominique Adkins was announced as station manager for KNBU-FM. Lesley Gill was hired as production manager for KNBU-TV and Tricia Shelton as executive producer of KNBU-TV.
As a second-year station manager for Baker’s radio station, junior Dominique Adkins said she has more than enough experience in what is needed to make the station successful.
“I have been involved with the radio ever since I was a freshman, and since then, I have seen continuous overall progressions,” Adkins said. “I have been the only student to apply for the station manager the past two years, but I wouldn’t have it any other way.”
Responsibility comes along with taking on a leadership role, which is why students who apply for the positions must meet certain requirements.
Associate Dean of Students Shelby Coxon said students should possess certain traits to be considered for a position.
“For any leadership role, I think the student needs to be a good communicator and someone who is willing to stand up to their peers.”
