The Baker men’s golf team started off its fall season on the right track by bringing home a first place finish Monday in the opening fall tournament hosted by Graceland University.
The 18-hole tournament, which took place at Lamoni, Iowa, at the Golf and Country Club, showcased 11 teams and five medalists.
Baker fought through the cold, rainy weather throughout the contest. Head coach Karen Exon said she was very pleased with her team’s performance, especially under the conditions.
“I am really pleased with the way the guys played individually and as a group,” Exon said. “I was really glad with how they dealt with the weather. They got through it and got through it well.”
Two strong individual performers, Senior Michael Kahler and sophomore Gavin Tatrn, both tied for second place individually along with a Graceland golfer.
Exon said both players worked hard throughout the summer, and it paid off.
