Sherman is involved in many activities on campus. She is co-president of the Council for International Awareness and is active in World Information and Response Effort. Sherman said clubs like these are important because it helps make people aware of their surroundings. Sherman is also a tutor at the Student Academic Services and has an internship at Baldwin City Hall.
“I just fell into it,” she said. “It was all by accident.”
With so many activities occupying her time, Sherman says she likes to play Dance Dance Revolution and read and write in her free time.
She said friends at Baker are important to her and she loves helping her friends whenever they need advice, a shoulder to cry on or someone to listen to them.
Sherman’s closest friends say she is a helpful, caring and loving friend.
“She’s honest. She’s the mom of the house,” sophomore Ashley Jensen said.
Senior Tim Haynes agreed.
“She always knows just what to say, she speaks very well, she’s easy to talk to and she’s clear about her point and tells the truth,” he said.
Sherman believes being open and honest is the key to having a healthy relationship with friends.
“I try to be open with my friends and tell them the truth,” she said. “When people first meet me, they think I’m cruel or harsh on them.”
Sherman plans to attend law school after graduating from Baker. She spent a semester in Spain last spring. She has traveled to other countries including Italy, Canada, Peru and Greece.
Sherman says budgeting time is important when balancing activities and social life.
