Wake up and roll out of bed, take a quick shower, shove a candy bar in your mouth and then run to class. Then, sit down in a chair, listen to lectures and take notes.
Hurry and eat lunch, then head to a computer and quickly finish typing up an essay for your next class. Rush to a club meeting after classes are over.
After that, snarf down some dinner before starting on two homework assignments due tomorrow. Begin writing that all-important scholarship essay, followed by filling out a housing application. Then crack open those books and notes because (gasp!) you have a huge exam tomorrow.
School days suck. Forget having a “Case of the Mondays,” most of us suffer from a “Case of the Mondays through Fridays” because of the extreme stress and pressure we feel from taking classes, being involved in clubs and not finding any time whatsoever to do all the things we have to do in one single day.
The only sigh of relief is the weekend, but what kind of relief is having to go to work or study class notes for yet another test…or both?
If college is supposed to be the best years of your life, then why is it filled with countless moments that make you want to pull your hair out in frustration, bang your head against a wall out of disappointment or suddenly become an insomniac due to anxiety?
Because of two glorious words: spring break.
Yes kids, spring break will be here in less than two weeks, which means a weeklong break from our grueling academic workloads. Some of us will be partying on the beach, sipping sex on the beach and dancing our booties to music. Others will be in big cities, taking photographs of landmarks and exploring all that city life has to offer. Still, others will be catching up with family and friends back home.
Regardless of your spring break plans, virtually everyone will be off campus singing, “No more schoolwork, no more books, no more professors’ dirty looks.”
All you have to do to enjoy a week of great times and no scholarly responsibilities is survive this upcoming week without having a nervous breakdown.
Don’t rip your hair out, don’t bang your head against any walls and get the sleep you deserve.
