Alpha Chi Omega sorority and Zeta Chi fraternity were named the 2009 Homecoming week champions at the football half-time presentation, Saturday, Oct. 2.
All teams competed in a Knowledge Bowl, BU Olympics, Skit night, a banner competition and a canned food drive.
“I think that it was quite the homecoming week overall,” Adam Tebben, senior and president of Zeta Chi said. “We had guys that really wanted to show everyone on campus a new side of us by showing that we do have a competitive side.”
Alpha Chi Omega has been the Homecoming champions for the past three years now.
“We are all proud that our hard work paid off,” Krista Yaktine, junior and vice president of chapter relations and standards for the sorority. “Alpha Chi (Omega) really enjoyed working with Zeta Chi all week for all the different homecoming activities.”
Tebben said although there was tough competition all week, the team kept themselves focused.
“We kept in our minds that this was our year to do something great and it happened to end up with us being on top and our hard work paying of,” he said.
Both greek organizations enjoyed working with each other throughout the week.
“The Alpha Chi’s took the same pride that we did into all the work and made it a joy in working with them,” Tebben said. “They are really a great group of girls.”
