The Baker men’s soccer team scrimmaged Major League Soccer’s Kansas City Wizards Wednesday at Swope Park in Kansas City, Mo., giving the Wildcats experience playing against some of the best players in the country.
The Wizards beat Baker 7-1 in two 45-minute halves, with the Wildcats seeing some Wizards’ starters in the first half and reserves in the second. Freshman Ethan Bauer scored the lone Baker goal.
“After playing the Wizards, a professional team, they do this for a living, basically we learned a lot from them just in their demeanor and how they act,” junior Jacob Chiarelli said. “It was definitely a learning opportunity that we’ll be able to apply during the season.”
Baker has scheduled another scrimmage against the Wizards for the preseason next fall.
"Everybody got a chance to play," head coach Nate Houser said. "This was a chance for everybody to be on the field and have this experience, and I'm just happy that they got that."<br/>&#160;
