Without losing upperclassmen and gaining five new men and six new women, the cross country teams are both ranked third in the preseason HAAC standings.
Head coach Zach Kindler said practices are going well for the runners and he is excited to see how they can do in the conference throughout the season.
“The women’s team is one of the strongest I’ve ever had at Baker,” Kindler said.
The women’s team is returning all runners from last season. Although the men’s team is young, Kindler believes the sophomores are stepping up to be good leaders.
On Sept. 4, the Wildcats will host their first meet at the Maple Leaf Invitational at 9 a.m. in Baldwin City.
“We would love the support,” Kindler said. “The girls won last year and we’re looking to do it again this year.”
