After a two-month break, the Baker bowling team will finish off its inaugural season Saturday and Sunday at the McKendree/Baker Challenge in Fairview Heights, Ill.
“Watching (the players) grow and improve, it’s been unbelievable,” head coach Kristal Wilson said. “From where we started to now, it’s just been a tremendous improvement and I’m just so excited for the girls.”
The team’s last tournament was in Fairview Heights on Nov. 27-28 for the National Team Match Games. With the long layoff, the Wildcats started practice again with optional practices in mid-January, which Wilson said nearly everyone attended.
Leading the way for the Wildcats is freshman Caitlin Campbell, who is ranked No. 28 in the country for rookies, and averages a score of 170.17 per game.
“Campbell has a lot of potential,” Wilson said. “I’m very excited because she’s definitely somebody who really wants to learn and wants to get everything out of it that she can, so she’s definitely a great player to work with.”
