The Baker wrestling team had a change of plans Saturday after the weather impacted its ability to travel to Sioux City, Iowa, for the Briar Cliff Open.
Head coach Jimmy May decided, with the bus company, that it was not a good decision to attempt to travel to Iowa due to the hazardous road conditions from the Feb. 5 snowstorm.
Despite not being able to travel to Sioux City, May still took eight wrestlers to compete in the Missouri Valley College Open in Marshall, Mo.
“We ended up having a positive weekend even though we weren’t able to travel to Iowa,” May said. “Clarence Jordan finished sixth and the other wrestlers that went to the dual at Missouri Valley wrestled well too.”
The team has qualified 10 wrestlers, including Jordan, for the NAIA National Championships in Oklahoma City, Okla., and is still looking to qualify two others.
The dual scheduled for this weekend in Concordia was canceled, so the team is off until the regional championships, which will take place Feb. 20 in Oskaloosa, Iowa.<br/>&#160;
