A new minor in Church Service and Leadership, which is expected to be implemented in the fall, passed Baker University Faculty Senate on Tuesday.
The new minor is a part of the Philosophy and Religion department, but will include a variety of classes in all departments taught by a wide range of faculty.
The minor will have five tracks dealing with church finances, music education, teaching and learning in a church, media technology and church and society.
"We are using existing courses and faculty to help students leave here equipped to step into one of those jobs at a church and sort of know what they are doing," Professor of Religion George Wiley said.<br/>Wiley said he hopes this program will attract students who are looking to be involved in church leadership.Wiley said he hopes this program will attract students who are looking to be involved in church leadership.
