The Baker men's and women's tennis teams got a taste of competition Friday and Saturday at the HAAC Fall Kickoff in Marshall, Mo.
For the women, the No. 1 doubles team of sophomores Tresa Carter and Lauren Thames beat a Lindenwood University team.
Baker head coach Joe Ahmadian said the standout for the team this weekend was junior Brie Lowry. She won all three matches leading up to the finals, where she lost a close match to a player from William Jewell College.
Although the men did not win a match, Ahmadian was happy with how well the team competed with the top teams in the conference.
"I was really impressed with how well we competed this weekend as a team, and look forward to seeing our young players progress," he said.
