After the Baker University women’s golf team had its first spring tournament canceled due to snow March 27-29, BU began its spring season Monday and Tuesday at the Cardinal Hill Country Club in Liberty, Mo.
Head coach Karen Exon was pleased with the team’s performance, but thought it would have been better if the team wasn’t short-handed.
“One of our seniors was not able to compete with us, Dani Weimholt, because she has a couple of senior-level classes that have extremely strict attendance policies,” Exon said.
Senior Krista Yaktine led the team with a two-round score of 172, which was good enough for a fifth-place individual finish. Junior Stacy Yowell, who shot a two-round score of 178, followed Yaktine and finished 10th.
BU finished in sixth place out of the eight teams in the tournament, but improved 20 strokes from day one to day two.
