Tackling cold temperatures and a difficult course, the Baker University women’s golf team took fifth place at the tournament April 17-19 at the Deuce at the National Golf Club in Kansas City, Mo.
Scoring a 90 on her second day and a 93 on the third, junior Stacy Yowell worked through the conditions with her team.
“We had our bad shots and good shots,” Yowell said.
Both the men and women’s golf teams played their next tournament Wednesday and Thursday at Alvamar Golf Course in Lawrence.
Yowell led the women’s team Wednesday by posting a round of 90. BU was five strokes behind Southwestern College for first place heading into the final round, but Thursday’s results were not available at presstime.
Junior Michael Wissman led the men’s team in Wednesday’s two rounds with scores of 87 and 79, which put him eight strokes behind the leader.
