Erin Joyce, assistant dean for Liberal Studies, spoke to the Baker University Student Senate Tuesday on behalf of the new Liberal Studies Program and changes that will occur in the fall.
A committee of faculty and staff spent more than five years going to conferences, networking and researching a Liberal Studies Program for the university.
The changes include a cut of total general education hours, the courses provided and the emphasis behind each course. The basis of these changes is for the student to follow an “outcome based learning and follow an inquiry-based pedagogy,” Joyce said
Other than the speaker, senators discussed a wish list for the basement of the Harter Union, cancellations of senate meetings, internal affairs and upcoming events hosted by Students Activities Council.
Student senate’s next meeting will be April 5.
