The Baker University greek chapters hosted recruitment events Aug. 21-27 and bids were given to potential new members last Friday.
Zeta Tau Alpha and Alpha Chi Omega sororities each have 20 new members and Delta Delta Delta sorority has a total of 19 new members as of Thursday morning.
“The (Panhellenic Council) wanted to strengthen all the houses, so we set the quota for sororities at 19,” Jennifer Letner, fraternity and sorority life coordinator, said. “By the end of the semester I expect all the sororities will be up to the quota.”
54 men signed up for recruitment and 45 have accepted bids as of Wednesday.
Delta Tau Delta fraternity has 16 new members, Kappa Sigma fraternity has six new members, Sigma Phi Epsilon has 17 new members and Zeta Chi fraternity has six new members, as of Thursday morning.
Overall, Letner said numbers were up from last year. In the sororities, 71 percent of the women who went through recruitment pledged, compared to the 62 percent from last year.
