With the deadline extended to Friday, freshmen have the opportunity to join Baker University Student Senate.
Student Senate President Caleb Watts said Tuesday that two freshmen were running for a position on the senate. Freshmen Paige Rockers and Carly Berblinger are both in the running for freshman vice president.
Student Senate members play an important role in decision making.
“(Student Senate has) to have those positions filled or we don’t feel like we get a complete say out of the freshmen class,” Watts said.
Watts said this is not the first time that positions have not been filled by the original deadline.
“Last year was our best year we’ve had in, like, five years,” Watts said. “Maybe there was miscommunication somewhere.”
Freshmen interested in applying for an officer position should contact Student Senate executive officer Anna Richards, who heads elections. Students can also contact Watts, Dean of Students Cassy Bailey or executive officers junior Paul Shores, senior Erica Vest or sophomore Matt Fry.
