The Baker University Student Senate gathered for its first meeting of the school year at 8 p.m. Tuesday on the fourth floor of Mabee Memorial Hall.
“It went pretty well, everyone was involved, and it went snappy,” Public Relations Officer Paul Shores said.
Student senate president Caleb Watts began a new tradition by showing a YouTube video before starting the meeting. He said a video chosen by a senator will be shown at the beginning of every meeting.
Another change being made to student senate is its way of communication. Watts proposed that online communication methods be changed from Moodle to Facebook. Because most of the senators use Facebook more than Moodle, most of the senate information will be found on a Student Senate Facebook page.
Senators approved four new campus organizations to be added including the Baker Christian Challenge, Baker University Farm Hands, Baker Outdoor and Bike Club and Baker Vniversity Lifeless Langvage Association.
In the next meeting at 8 p.m. Sept. 27 in Mabee 100, Baker University President Pat Long will speak and all students are invited to attend.
