The Baker University men’s soccer team remains undefeated after recording two more wins Friday and Saturday.
The ’Cats are 6-0 on the season after a 4-1 victory over John Brown University Friday, and their fifth 1-0 victory of the season over Oklahoma City University Saturday. Assistant coach Davy Phillips sees a lot of hard work paying off for the team.
“It’s incredible the work rate the guys have produced so far day in and day out,” Phillips said. “We’re very pleased with where our guys are at.”
Junior Donny George agrees that hard work is the key to success.
“Every player on the pitch works hard,” George said. “That’s part of the reason why we’ve been so successful.”
Baker moved up five spots from No. 18 to No. 13 in the nation.
Senior Tom Lowndes knows that the team needs to take it one game at a time, though.
“It can all come crumbling down if we let go,” Lowndes said. “There was a point a few years ago when we were number four in the nation, and I think some of us let that get to our heads … we (have to) take it a game at a time.”
BU will play Oklahoma Baptist University Friday and Midland Lutheran Saturday. Both games will be played at North Park.
