The Baker University men’s and women’s tennis teams continue making strides as the Heart of America Athletic Conference tournament draws near.
The men faced an NCAA Division I school, the University of Missouri Kansas City, April 5 in Kansas City, Mo.
“We’re definitely getting some good competition with the matches we’ve been playing lately,” head coach Joe Ahmadian said.
The men dropped all of their matches against UMKC, but Ahmadian thought they gained beneficial experience.
“I think it kind of helps us realize how focused we need to be on every point and how we need to do the small things right in order to play at a high level,” Ahmadian said.
The women’s match against Evangel University on Saturday was postponed, but both teams went on to face Bethany College Tuesday.
The women played without senior Brie Lowrey, but prevailed to defeat Bethany 6-3. The win for the women’s team was its third of the season.
The men’s team was unable to bounce back from the loss to UMKC and suffered a 9-0 loss to Bethany.
Both teams are scheduled to play Hesston College at 2 p.m. today at Laury Tennis courts.
