The Baker University men’s and women’s golf teams had more than just competition to battle Sunday-Tuesday in their most recent tournament.
The golf teams had to find a different means of transportation to get to the tournament Sunday because the vans head coach Karen Exon had reserved were unavailable.
“Long story short, we were delayed almost two hours getting away before vans could be brought to us from Topeka,” Exon said.
Baker was also unable to get a full practice round in Sunday due to rain, but played through the wet course conditions Monday and Tuesday.
The men’s team placed fifth and was led by junior Mason Dick, who shot an opening round 81 and bounced back with a second round of 74.
Junior Rachel Strecker was the top performer for the women’s team with rounds of 94 and 87, followed by senior Stacy Yowell and junior Bristol Brandt. The women came away with a third place finish.
BU returns to its home course Wednesday and Thursday when the teams host a tournament at Alvamar Golf Course in Lawrence.
