The Baker University women’s bowling team finished 15th out of 26 in the McKendree Baker Challenge Feb. 4 and 5 in Fairview Heights, Ill.
“We didn’t start out so well,” head coach Cheryl Keslar said. “It was the toughest oil pattern we have played on so far. No team averaged more than 200 points.”
This tournament was the lowest scoring tournament of the season with Wichita State University winning it with an average of 184 points.
Keslar told the team Saturday that there needed to be some changes made the next day and the Wildcats made those necessary changes.
BU’s sophomore Brittany Barker and junior Caitlin Campbell led the way.
“Brittany had to move positions, but transitioned very well and Caitlin was our go to person at every 10th frame to deliver a strike when we needed it,” Keslar said.
The next tournament for the ’Cats will be the Blackhaul Direct Hoosier Classic Feb. 17-19 in Indianapolis. The tournament will be the last one for the team before the United States Bowling Congress Sectional Qualifiers March 10 and 11.
“We have gotten so much better this season,” Keslar said. “This last tournament was huge for the team as the team prepares for sectionals.”
