Students took a break from studying for finals to feast on pancakes and contribute money to help ailing children Friday and Saturday at the Delta House of Pancakes fundraiser.
Delta Delta Delta sorority hosted the annual event, DHOP, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday and midnight to 3 a.m. Saturday at its chapter house. Attendees could eat all the pancakes they wanted for a $5 entry fee.
London Wise, Delta Delta Delta philanthropy chair, said the group raised $375 for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, the sorority’s philanthropic cause.
Throughout the year, the group also hosts a chili feed, works a booth at the Maple Leaf Festival and participates in Up ‘til Dawn to raise money for St. Jude.
Wise said that despite a scheduling conflict, the event was a success.
“It went very well,” Wise said. “We weren’t sure how it would go because we usually have it on dead day. It was still very successful. We usually have about 50 people, and this year we had about 79.”
Wise said the unexpectedly large number of hungry attendees required an unplanned trip in the middle of the feed to buy more pancake supplies.
