Men’s soccer continues win streak

After defeating No. 21 Kansas Wesleyan University, the Baker men’s soccer team is on a three-game win streak.

Fans crowded into Liston Stadium on Saturday to watch the Wildcats take down KWU 2-1.

Baker was able to get on the scoreboard first when sophomore Amer Didic sent home a free kick from about 30 yards out in the 26th minute of the game.

Shortly after, senior Ben Coyle threw in the ball from the sideline, placing it right in front of the goal for senior Andy Griffin to find the back of the net.

The ‘Cats held a 2-0 lead until the 80th minute when a foul inside the penalty area allowed Kansas Wesleyan a penalty kick. Diego Cocon took advantage for the Coyotes and put the ball past senior goalkeeper Matt Bickley.

In spite of the lone goal, Bickley made three saves on the night and picked up his fifth win in the goal.

Baker outshot KWU 18-8 and improved its record to 5-3-1 on the season.

The ‘Cats will make their way to Ottawa on Tuesday to take on the Braves at 7:30 p.m.
