Confessions of a digital hoarder

Story by Whitney Silkey, Assistant News Editor

I have never been one who easily parts with my possessions, no matter how big or small. So it comes to no surprise to me that I am the picture perfect definition of a millennial hoarder.

Over time, my hoarding transformed from physical possessions to digital files, videos and most importantly, pictures. I currently have 3,714 pictures on my iPhone and 6,892 on my computer. I am terrified for the day that my 32 GB of space reaches its full storage capacity.

I hope that I reach that day before the day my phone crashes and I lose all of my pictures, though. That would be my worst nightmare.

It seems a little crazy obsessive to keep that many pictures, but honestly I could not care less. Every picture that slows down my computer is a memory and a moment that I want to remember no matter what.

I am a pretty sentimental person, so I like keeping those little pieces of the past. I have tons pictures for any situation whenever I need a pick-me-up, a good laugh or when I’m just feeling nostalgic.

So yeah, I’ll admit that I’m another typical millennial hoarder. But if one day I develop amnesia, at least I’ll have thousands of pictures to prove I lived a good life.
