The Baker University women’s cross country team won the Heart of America Athletic Conference championship meet on Saturday, earning the Wildcats' first team bid to the NAIA national championships since 2010.
The Baker University women’s cross country team finished in third place at the NAIA Mid-States Classic on Saturday, and the men’s team took 14th out of 25 teams.
After receiving votes in the NAIA coaches’ poll all season, the Baker University women’s cross country team final broke into the top 25 on Oct. 14.

Although the Baker University women’s cross country team finished in second place overall Saturday, it came home with more than just a plaque. The team set a new school record for the fastest 5,000-meter run time in school history.
Senior Lauren Jaqua broke Baker’s 4,000-meter run record Saturday with a time of 14:49. The performance earned her a third-place finish at the University Central Missouri Mule Run and the Heart of America Athletic Conference runner of the week award.
