Women's basketball suffers first loss

On one of Baker athletics’ most historic days with three NAIA playoff home victories, the No. 23 women’s basketball team lost its first game of the season. The Wildcats fell 69-66 to the MidAmerica Nazarene Pioneers on Saturday in the Collins Center and failed to snap a three-game losing streak to MNU.

Five BU teams to host games on Saturday

Baker athletics will host five different sporting events on Saturday, including three NAIA playoff games at Liston Stadium. This is the busiest sports weekend for Baker since Athletic Director Theresa Yetmar took over in 2009.

The women’s basketball team returns to the floor this season with four returning starters, including three seniors. The senior class has been a part of back-to-back NAIA national tournaments, three straight 20-win seasons and three consecutive seasons with a different All-American.

2015-16 women's basketball preview

The women’s basketball team finished the 2014-15 season with its third straight 20-win season and made its second consecutive NAIA national tournament appearance. The women’s final record was 21-10 on the year with a 13-5 mark conference play. The 2015-16 Wildcats look to remain at the top of the conference as the new season begins in November.

The women's basketball team lost 52-47 to No. 6 Oklahoma Baptist in the first round of the NAIA tournament. Baker ended the season with a record of 21-10.

Women to face OBU in national tourney

The women’s basketball team has earned its second consecutive bid to the NAIA Division I Women’s Basketball Championship in Independence, Missouri, from March 18-24 at the Independence Events Center. Baker’s first game will be at 12:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 19.

After close loss, women hope for national bid

The third-seeded women’s basketball team lost to the second-seeded Benedictine Ravens in the Heart of America Athletic Conference tournament semifinals March 6 in Atchison 57-55. Senior Kyrstie Ehm missed the potential game-tying shot as the buzzer sounded.

The third-seeded women’s basketball team defeated the sixth-seeded Graceland Yellow Jackets 82-65 on Wednesday, March 4, in the Collins Center in the first round of the HAAC tournament. The Wildcats improved to 21-8 on the season and won their ninth straight game.
