The Department of Admission has been seeing some fruits of its labor recently.
Vice President of Enrollment Management Louise Cummings-Simmons said the department has seen an increase in several things.
“We’re running ahead in (applications), we’re running ahead in admits, we’re running ahead in confirmed and net confirmed,” Cummings-Simmons said. “Our numbers are ahead of where we were last year. If we can convert at the same level … we should be good.”
Although numbers are up, Cummings-Simmons said she is continuing to work.
“You’re still working with kids that haven’t yet made the decision,” Cummings-Simmons said. “The next five months are what I’d call closing months, and there is a lot to be done to bring in the class.”
Starting in 2004, the department has been more aggressively seeking out and recruiting future Baker University students, Cummings-Simmons said.
“This year, we have been in 1,339 high schools,” Cummings-Simmons said. “We have attended 153 college programs. Our staff has made 11,474 phone calls. We have hosted over 200 students for scholarship days.”
Cummings-Simmons said current Baker students can help by telling the admission department about students who may be interested in Baker.
