Baker softball team wins twice at Central Baptist Invitational

Baker University’s softball team went 2-3 at the Central Baptist Invitational in Conway, Ark., March 5-6.

Baker beat Bacone College 3-0 and also beat Mid-Continent University 4-3 after playing an extra two innings.

During the Bacone game, sophomore Brittany Vollenweider pitched a complete-game shutout.

The Wildcats also played nine innings with Mid-America Christian University, but lost 8-7.They lost to Roger State College 10-3 and Central Baptist College 7-0 as well.

Head coach Matt Windle said the losses are not coming from a weak offense.

“We’re hitting with some power,” Windle said. “The one thing we do have to fix is our defense.”

Baker plays at 1 p.m. Saturday against Highland Community College at Cavaness Field.
