Baker softball team wins two at CBC Tournament

Baker’s softball team went 2-3 at the CBC Tournament Friday through Sunday in Conway, Ark.

After losing both games Friday, Baker beat Peru State College 2-1 on Saturday, but lost later that day to Lyon College. Sunday the ’Cats made a comeback with a 3-2 win over Morningside College, a win that head coach Matt Windle was impressed with.

“I didn’t think we’d beat Morningside,” Windle said. “That was a rather big win.”

Freshman Heather Gruber pitched the Morningside game, finishing with eight strikeouts and no walks.

“She is pitching really well right now,” Windle said.

The team heads to Conway, Ark., again Friday and Saturday for the Central Baptist Tournament.
