Rick Weaver is a bit of an icon in Baldwin City, known for his work with the junior high and high school football programs and being Baker’s head men’s basketball coach.

On Saturday, however, Weaver will be recognized for his contributions to another city, Sioux City, Iowa, where he will be inducted into the Morningside College Hall of Fame.

Weaver was a three-year starter for the Mustangs and averaged 13.9 points per game, which, according to Morningside’s athletic Web site, is good for the fourth leading scorer in school history.

He also was an All-North Central Conference performer during his senior season with outstanding scoring performances against the University of Nebraska-Omaha (29) and Augustana College (30).

Weaver has coached at BU for the past 25 years.
