It's been a while since I've been on the blogging scene, but I certainly have not been away from the baking scene! Last weekend, I decided to try something I haven't had in a long time. These rich 7 layer bars were quick and easy to make!
Ingredients - 1/2 cup unsalted butter - 1 1/2 cups graham cracker crumbs - 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips - 1 cup butterscotch chips - 1 cup chopped walnuts - 1 (14 ounce) can sweetened condensed milk - 1 1/3 cups shredded coconut
Instructions 1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees 2. Place butter in 13 x 9 inch pan and melt in oven. Swirl to coat bottom and sides with butter. 3. Spread crumbs evenly over bottom of pan. Layer chocolate chips, butterscotch chips and nuts over crumbs. Pour condensed milk over nuts. Sprinkle coconut over condensed milk. 4. Bake until edges are golden brown, about 25 minutes. Let cool.
These are a delicious combination of all of my favorites--graham cracker crumb crust (like you might find in a cheesecake), chocolate and butterscotch chips and my favorite, coconut! They also look pretty fancy with the lightly toasted look of the coconut-but they're really not fancy or hard to make at all--just delicious! One thing you can do to change the taste of these bars is use different kinds of chips. For example, you could use white chocolate or peanut butter chips to give it a little bit different flavor.
