After a weekend at home, I was stocked up on snacks and goodies my mom had made and sent back to Baker with me. So this week, I didn’t really need to add any sweets to my stockpile. Instead of trying a new recipe that may not even get eaten, I decided to go with a classic, Peanut Butter Hershey's Kiss Cookies.
Ingredients
1/2 c. butter
1/2 c. peanut butter (creamy)
1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. packed brown sugar
1 egg
1 1/4 c. flour
1 tsp. baking powder
3/4 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. salt
Instructions
-
Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
-
Mix together first five ingredients; then add remaining flour and mix until you form a sticky dough.
-
Roll into small balls and place onto a greased cookie sheet.
-
Bake 8-10 minutes or until just golden brown.
-
Place Hershey's Kiss (with wrapping removed) in center of each cookie while they are still hot.
After I made these, I was feeling guilty about not going out on a limb and trying something new for my blog. However, I realized the Kisses are suitable for the upcoming holiday, Valentine’s Day. To build on this, I decided to cut Snickers candy bars into hearts and place on top of some of the cookies rather than the Hershey's Kisses. I also used a couple of Reese’s Peanut Butter cups just because I had a couple lying around.
While this cookie is always a favorite, I found the different kind of candies on top added a delightful twist, and next time I might skip the Kisses entirely!
